I request people not to visit this place not only because of bad food but also for worst treatment to customers.we ordered Biriyani which was really bad; when we told the lady (owner/manager) that It was not good, and if we can order something else, she started arguing like what you don't like in the food, how do you expect the food to be blah blah . Not sure how come she survived in this industry with this attitude ( miracle do happen , now I believe ) !! When we go to a restaurant we expect good food and if we don't get that we expect at least people to be polite , you cannot find both here !!

Yum! A sudden craving for Indian food after browsing the internet led me to India Palace. I just recently relocated to Eden Prairie, and I'm missing my usual favorites. For starters, I had the buffet. It was very good. There were plenty of options, a great Paneer Dish, Lamb and Chicken, plenty of Naan and Raita for accompanying the spicy food. Gulab Jamun for dessert was also delicious. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. My Indian tea was warm and flavorful. My date had plain black tea, even though he was offered coffee. Only complaint, besides being offered coffee and getting tea, was the price. For two people and two hot drinks, it was $30. Usually I anticipate buffets being slightly cheaper than that. Despite this, I will go back. I'm glad to have found a convenient indian buffett near me.

Best Indian food I have had since I lived in London! My daughter found this place randomly while in EP. We rarely go to this area but now we will be just to eat here! Lamb chops have quickly became our favorite. The spinch and homemade cheese dish is the best I have ever had. Better than in London even. The food is heavly. The only thing that could be improved is the service. Just a bit more attentive on water, napkins, and drink refils. Sooooooo good!!! Bravo

Love the food and the atmosphere. Very authentic. Chicken Shahi Korma is my favorite, along with their amazing samosas. In town for 2 nights and chose to eat here both nights.

The food was really good and I would recommend going. We will go again. Specifically we had the tandoori chicken and a chick pea dish. Both were delicious. The service was also very attentive. A few quirks you should know about (but they can be overlooked if you want good Indian food in the middle of Eden Prairie): There was some really loud music playing during part of our meal, which was a little distracting. Also, more distracting was at one point one of the servers got out a very loud carpet sweeper to clean up behind some other diners (it wasn't toward closing time). I would overlook those quirks and go for dinner.

Huge menu, tons of options. I've mainly tried the chicken dishes here and they've all been phenomenal. The appetizers are hit or miss--the chicken samosas are a hit, but the fried cheese app is just ok. They let you pick how spicy you want your meal, which is always nice. Authentic Indian in the burbs!

I went last week for dinner. Menu is pretty straight forward and selection is good. I thought the portion of food is a bit light for the price. A nice serving of white rice with my meal, but very small portion of chicken curry. Sure the rice will fill you up, but I would much rather had more chicken curry to put in top of it. 3 out of 5 because it didn't blow me away.

Hella good Indian food in Minnesota?!? I had no idea. I set my expectations low but I was proven wrong. This place is great! Everything my group had was delicious. They are also very vegan friendly. They did not bat an eye when I asked for some vegetarian dishes to be made without cream or ghee. Our server was able to tell me what was vegan and was very accommodating. We had 2 vegan dishes: Baingan Bharta and Chana Palak. Both had amazing flavors. We ordered them mild but since I am a spicy food addict, they brought out some spicy chili paste that made my food some of the best I have ever had. We had 4 non-vegan dishes that everyone at the table thought were delicious. The Indian beer selection was also great. Most restaurants only have one or two beers but they had several types. We split a large Taj Mahal, a Kingfisher, and a Flying Horse. I love Indian style lagars so it was great to be able to taste them side by side. Next time I am in the area, I will be back. If i lived closer, this would be my takeout heaven. We saw a lot of people getting takeout and even picking up catering sized dishes. This would be great party food. I would highly recommend India Palace.

Tasty punjabi food. I absolutely love the onion kulcha, malai kofta & veggie biryani. Perfectly spiced and throughly enjoyable. I prefer carry-out to dine-in as the service is disappointing which in-turn may ruin a perfectly good meal experience. On occasion, the food is absolutley bland with no better taste than what I can cook. But, overall carry-out excellent!! Enjoy!

I have visited this family owned place now twice with groups of friends for the lunch time buffet. I always order chai and grab several plates of food. I definitely enjoy the buffet, it's not spicy at all. Best to get there early when food is freshest. My record is 5 plates :) although I admit I only take one spoon of something and some rice, so not like I'm a huge pig. Definitely would recommend this place for all!

I am really surprised about the positive reviews of this place. The food is far from being good....at least compared to the restaurants I've eaten at here in MSP and In London, where I'd lived for a few years. We visited this restaurant a few times even though we prefer to eat someplace else, because of it's location. The service had never been a problem until yesterday. It was so bad that we will never be back again. First when we arrived around 1:30pm on a Sunday, there was nobody to greet us. We just stood there like a couple of idiots. The owner was cashing out a few customers and did not even acknowledge us. As more time went by and my patients was running thin, he finally caught my stare and told us we could sit where ever we wanted. Next came the worst service I'd ever experience. The waiter acted like we were a nuisance and was putting him out. I helped myself to the buffet and my husband ordered off the menu. When his food arrived, the waiter dropped his food on the table like he was feeding a dog and walked away without saying a word. Next we watched as he went from table to table offering more water to his preferred guest,...asking them if the food was good and clearing the dirty dishes off their table. I watched him as he completely ignored our table and dirty dishes. We had planned on bringing a couple of our friends to this restaurant next week but instead I will be telling them to avoid this place unless they want to be treated like we were. I complained to the owner on the way out and he did apologize and said he will talk to the waiter but alas, this experience was just so bad that there will never be a next time. I gave it two stars because the food didn't make me sick and the ambiance is good,

Most of the reviews focus on lunch buffet ( which is quite good) We've had dinner there a few times in the last several months and enjoyed it greatly. Food: Mushroom chicken ( basically Chicken Makhani with mushrooms) - wonderful. Chicken was tender, flavors subtly blended, sauce creamy and delectable. Mushrooms add a nice complement. Vegetable Balti- it takes guts to put Balti on the menu as it was invented in England. Authenticity snobs think this means its not really "Indian". What's up with that? Invented by Pakistani/Kashmiri immigrants who skillfully adapted native cooking styles to local ingredient availability- how is that not "authentic" and why does that matter anyway- the test of cuisine is taste, not slavishly following the recipes found in a frozen time capsule. I digress- delicious. The onion kulcha and paneer naan fresh, flaky, chewy. Perfect combination of textures from the Tandoor. Service as usual -polite and attentive and cheerful. Wonderful find in the general blanditude of southwest suburban restaurants.

I was pleasantly surprised to find an Indian restaurant in this part of the country, and even MORE surprised to find that it was good, with excellent service. I am normally a very curious diner, asking about what I am eating, but I was in a hurry, and just decided to get a little of everything off of the lunch buffet today. To be honest, some of the items had chicken in them, but I have absolutely NO IDEA what the majority of the dishes I had were (many of them didn't have meat in them, and the dish with the mashed cauliflower and English peas was amazing). All I know is that they were excellent, and the people manning the floor were quite attentive and helpful. For about $10 (12 with a drink), you would be hard-pressed to match the quality, variety and quantity of the food here for lunch. It is certainly better than the cheap Chinese take-outs in the area.

My sister and I used to go to this restaurant all the time as we lived in Eden Prairie. We enjoyed the food and the servers have always been kind to us. The reason I am giving this place a one star is because we noticed the host (who we later learned was actually the owner) treated us very unpleasantly. My sister owns a very popular restaurant near uptown and I also happen to serve there, so we are both very understanding when it comes to the service industry. Everyone is entitled to their bad days but when it happens every single time we go there we can't help but think there is something beyond that. My sister and I are Asian. We have noticed the owner on several occasions greet white customers with a friendly smile as they pay their bill at the register before leaving but when we got up to pay our bill (right after the white man in front of us) her attitude would change a complete 180 degrees. My sister has even told me that she took her friend there (who happened to be an African American Lawyer) and got even worst treatment to the point that her friend noticed. Perhaps I am being paranoid but we have since taken our money elsewhere, the drive is a lot further, but completely worth being treated with dignity. My advice to the owner would be to get used to people of color or at least pretend you don't have a problem with minorities because it is very noticeable. This is my very first yelp review as I have never felt the need to write one before but this has been haunting me for the last year. Hope this helps. :)

Love India Palace! I used to come here a lot. Their food is great. The garlic naan is a must! Service has always been great and I love the feel of the place. I just wish I lived close enough...

A few days a week my wife has late hours so I met her for dinner and we chose to try out India Palace. We shared the vegetable Jalfrezi (chunks of homemade cheese and a mixture of fresh vegetables prepared with ginger, garlic, tomatoes and spices) which was very good. I am someone skeptical of the strip mall restaurant but, if you are looking for some great indian food with great service come to India Palace.

Love this place. Everytime I go there I tell myself that I'm going to try something new, but I can't. Their chicken shahi korma just has to be ordered....and the pashwari naan. I'm not typically a fan of Indian lunch buffets, but this one is actually decent. The waitstaff is always really friendly as well, which is a plus.

Fantastic Indian food! My husband and I love this place and go here or get take out often. You can tell the staff know the food, and the lunch buffet is excellent as well. Service is great in our experience (we've been there a dozen times by now). All around 5 stars for the price.

Lunch time buffet is a good value with several choices you can try. However, if you don't mind very basic decor you can try India Spice House nearby which is cheaper and as an Indian I prefer their buffet. For A la Carte menu, I like India Palace, although it's quite expensive like most Indian restaurants in the Minneapolis area. A decent meal for 2 people is $40-50. For cheaper and better fare you may have to travel to New Jersey, Bay Area or Houston even. Back to the menu, their Balti preparations (cooked in a covered "pot") are pretty delicious although very heavy and oily. This place has a higher percentage of non Indian clientele if that tells you anything. A fairly decent Indian option in the 'burbs.

Yum. Whether it is the buffet lunch or order off the menu dinner, I have always enjoyed my trips here. They have been around for at least 4-5 years that I have been stopping by, so they must be doing something right. I try to stop in when I am in town as good Indian food can be hard to find. The buffet pricing is ok at ~$11 and is a good sampling for beginners or anyone that does not want to stick with one item off the menu. They have ~8 dishes, rice, naan, etc.

I love the food at this place. It's incredibly convenient for where I live, and I've never been disappointed by the food. However, I have tricked myself too many times, into thinking that the service can't possibly be as bad as the last time - so I sit down to have dinner, instead of taking out. ALWAYS a bad choice! On my most recent visit, I sat down, and was given water and a menu. It took me just a couple of minutes to decide what I'd like to order, but I had to wait for almost 10 minutes before anyone made eye contact with me, so I could flag them down. This game continued through the meal - I do not feel as if a server once proactively came to my table. I ordered a vegetarian dish, and a side of naan. The dish was brought to the table, and the girl delivering it said she'd be "right back" with the naan. I waited, because I like to eat using the naan, and don't care to eat as much rice. And I waited, and waited, and waited...finally, after 10 minutes, I decided I'd better just each my meal with the rice, because it was going to get cold. Halfway through eating, the naan finally appeared. Then, when I was completely finished eating, I stacked my plates, and moved them to the other side of the table. And waited, and waited, and waited. I finally had to flag someone down again, and ask for the check. I should mention, they were NOT at all busy during this time. There were a total of four tables sat in the entire place, and three takeout orders while I was there. Who I can only assume are the owners (they are there every time), always sit in the same booth, and talk to each other, or on the phone. Upon returning my credit card to me, the woman remarked that she was sorry, and had just gotten an earful from her daughter for sitting there while I was waiting. Great food, consistently terrible service. Get take-out.

Food/Drink: Went for lunch and got buffeted. The dishes all pretty much tasted the same which is strange for the labeling. Nothing too spicy or memorable. There were a 2-3 vegetarian dishes and about the same for non-vegetarian dishes. Either way, the best thing on the line was the rice (and just barely). The naan never had more then a handful there but worked to scoop up the curries. Ambiance: It's a big enough restaurant with good ventilation so you don't come out smelling like Indian food. Some art scattered around to make sure I know why I'm here. Service: Service was the high point, albeit there were only three tables of people in the place. Dirty dishes were taken away immediately, water glasses constantly filled. When we paid, it was easy as possible and we were out the door within an hour. Overall: If you're working in the area and "need" Indian food (surprisingly few options), it'll do. However, it will definitely be difficult to keep in a regular rotation for lunch spots or even make a trip here for a weekend meal or dinner.

We went for dinner as a family of 4. First of all, great ambience. As we walked in, we noticed that there were about 10 medals on the wall! We ordered a vegetable platter for an appetizer. For the main course, we selected dal makhani, raita, naan, and malai kofta; these came with rice. These were all very delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented as well. We ended up ordering the malai kofta a second time since it was so delicious! But, THE best food was the naan (bread). Wow! So fresh, crispy, yet soft as well! It had a wonderful aroma and instantly sparked my appetite. Don't miss the naan! Best of all, the service was perfect. The staff was very friendly, always smiling, and showed concern for any of our needs, and fulfilled them as well. They also gladly provided information about other places around the area to which we could travel. Overall, delicious, friendly, and satisfying. Best Indian food I've had in a while!

I'll be honest, I only ever go here when (1) my preferred restaurant is closed, (2) I happen to be on this side of town, and (3) my wife is fixing for Indian food and goads me into going. The buffet options are standard but never really seem to change or rotate often. To be frank it's just not that tasty in my opinion. Nothing here screams for you to have it every time, there is no memorable dish that you go back hoping they have that day or that you'd consider ordering off the menu. A bland, middle of the road Indian buffet that will do in a pinch. The atmosphere is fine and it is at least clean and well kept. No complaints about the ambiance.

I will never go to this restaurant again. I went there with my Mom for the lunch buffet on a Sunday, and within 30-45 minutes after we were done eating, I became sick, as if my body wanted the food out immediately. A few hours later, when I could walk again, I went back to the restaurant to let them know their food made me sick. I thought they would care to know that they had a quality issue. I went in and pulled the waiter aside to discretely tell him the food made me sick so the other patrons wouldn't hear, and he changed immediately. He previously was courteous and friendly, and then he smirked flippantly and said "how did it make you sick?" and so I had to tell him their food gave me diarrhea, and he started telling me repeatedly that food poisoning takes 24-72 hours to settle in and that I should call Hennepin County Medical Center. The hostess butted in and said to me disrespectfully, "did you go to Emergency?" I was so shocked that I was almost speechless. I couldn't believe they were behaving that way. If I had a restaurant and a paying customer came in and told me their food made them sick, I would be horrified and apologize. I would offer them their money back and give them a coupon and tell them to please come back again. The waiter at this restaurant didn't even apologize. He said "what do you want ME to do?" and I said "I would like to be reimbursed." And they kept telling me to go to the Emergency room. I couldn't believe it. I've never been treated this badly in my life. I have experience in the medical field, and I know that when someone eats something that makes them sick, it's not always "at least 24 hours" as the waiter said. If symptoms occur within 1-6 hours after eating the food, it suggests that it is caused by a bacterial toxin or a chemical rather than live bacteria. And when you eat something that's bad, you know it soon. Your body tells you, and it does its job to get it out. I wasn't as upset by having gotten sick, but I was shocked and upset by how rude and disrespectful the waiter and the hostess were to me. I will never go back to this restaurant, and I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Also... when we were eating there, we waited for probably 30 minutes for the waiter to come back so we could ask for the check, and when he was seating a nearby table, I flagged him down and asked for the check and he said we pay at the front. This would have been nice to know up front, but again, this was not the best waiter...

Nice family-run Indian restaurant nestled in a strip mall - next to Starbucks. Seems to draw a diverse crowd, especially for Eden Prairie. Great lunch buffet - 7 days a week. The buffet isn't extensive, but it is always fresh and tasty. On Fri, Sat and Sunday they have Milk Balls - a delicious dessert treat. The buffet always has a few yummy vegetarian dishes, a couple chicken dishes and a beef dish. I have also had take-out - good, but the chicken tikka was a little dry and they biryani was missing something. But love their palak paneer.

I have been going to this restaurant for past 4 years. I have never had a bad experience there. Food is great! I have multiple things off the menu. Spice is perfect every time in every level. Good service. Amazing menu. Authentic taste. I also have tried a lot of other Indian restaurants in Minneapolis and its suburb areas, and this place by far is the best.

Good Indian food buffet. We venture here about once a month for lunch. It's a little spendy about $12 but the food is good and it's all you can eat, just not sure I'm eating 12 bucks worth. The chai tea is super good, you can really taste the cardamon and i enjoy their nan bread. They usually have 3 veg curries on the buffet and they always have Bhajias (the Indian breaded & fried veggies) I enjoy going to the buffet because I'm not familiar with the Indian menu names i go by looks and the buffet allows you to try a bunch of stuff to find out what you enjoy, great for people who dont eat a lot of Indian food. And they have mango pudding and rice pudding for dessert. The wait staff are speedy with drinks at lunch and the place is never too busy where your waiting in line at the buffet.

I've had better luck finding good Indian food in MN than Ethiopian. This place rocks... Helpful hint... Go during the lunch buffet so you can have as much as you want and you can try everything (instead of being stuck with 1 platter for dinner)!!

This restaurant was basically my introduction to Indian Food. The quality of the food has always been excellent. I usually get the lamb curry, but have tried some other things depending on what the person I'm with gets. I have never been disappointed. It's got a good atmosphere with pleasant music, and it's open pretty late. I believe they have a lunch buffet, but have not had any experience with that. My only complaint is that sometimes the service can be a little slow, but it does get very busy during the evenings and the staff is not huge. In my opinion, the taste more than makes up for any delay. Get the Gulab Jamun.

  • Brian S.

Had the lunch buffet. Boy was it bland! The Tandori chicken was old and dried out, so was the nan. The rice pudding had absolutely no spices in it. Chicken tikka masala and chicken curry were just ok at best. The only saving grace was the curry pakora, which was tangy and a bit spicy. Not sure I will be back anytime soon.

This is the best indian food restaurant I have been to. No other restaurant can hold a candle to India Palace. The food quality is excellent. They also have a wide variety on the menu. I love going here for special occasions, since it can be pricey to eat there often. DEFINITELY recommend!

Good buffet at lunchtime. They had several options including Masala, Tandoori Chicken, a spicy lentil dish, and a few others. Everything I had was really good, but my favorite was the fresh Naan bread. India Palace makes for a pretty tasty and quick lunch at a good price.

Food is good (I'm not Indian) but service is VERY slow. In fact, my boyfriend was ready to walk out because it took so long for our waiter to come to our table. After we placed our order the food came out in good time, but they forgot to bring us our appetizer. I would order take-out from here, but not sure if I would dine in again.

Stellar N. Indian cuisine. Stuck in a strip mall in EP, this is the best Rajastani indian food I've had this side of London. Dishes such as dal makhani, malai kofta, and lamb shahi korma are wonderfully rich; I like them spicier to balance the richness with some kick. They also serve Baltis, a British creation from the West Midlands; the kerara balti is probably my favorite thing on the menu. The tandoor is always excellently prepared, too. The only knock is that the S. Indian dishes (spicier curries like vindaloos) are good, but not great.

Enjoy!

For me it was very bad experience. All I did is moved to other table from where they said to sit. I am writing this to not complain but just to inform you my experience.

Stopped in for the lunch buffet today. The place was quite busy but that didn't slow up the lines at all. Great food, great price. We'll be back for sure
